Over the past few months, Moore Health & Protection has expanded – adding several advisors to the team meaning we can better support individuals and employers to protect what matters the most to them. And, what better way to get to know the team than with an interview series on our blog and, first up, we have founder of Moore Health & Protection, Tony Moore.
I ended up in the sector by accident
When I say accident, I mean it was a happy accident. But I’d never mapped out my career and certainly couldn’t imagine it looking as it does now. I initially took an office job in a sales support team and worked my way up from there. Over the past 20 years, I worked within companies like Standard Life, AXA, Vitality and Prudential and I’m now proud to be able to call myself an independent health and protection advisor with Chartered Insurance Institute accreditation.
Every day is different
Lots of people say this about their jobs but at Moore Health & Protection it really is. I might be working with an employer who wants to get protection for their key employee or maybe a younger professional has just found out they’re having a baby and wants to put proactive steps in place to protect their earnings. The real beauty of my job is that it’s never the same, and it’s typically a good mix of helping new and existing clients with saving money at renewal, finding new policies and working with providers when it comes to making claims.
My job is incredibly rewarding
You might think that I just help people to find the right level of cover for them – and while that is a huge part of my role, it’s only the beginning. With the right insurance in place, the individuals I work with can access the treatment they need, often at a much quicker pace. In the past, this has even meant that some of my customers have been able to receive early cancer diagnosis which can be life changing. This makes it all worth it.
The best time to take out a plan is the day before you need it
Of course, none of us know when that is, which is why I always tell people that the second-best time to take out insurance is today. The future of insurance is exciting too and we’re now seeing providers offering more value to their customers, which ultimately means better solutions. Currently, there’s so much more to private medical insurance and income protection, and it can be beneficial for your lifestyle choices.
Charity work is a passion of mine
If time and money was no object, I’d definitely volunteer full-time. I already provide career talks at school, help at the local park and I’m a Governor at Stockport NHS but I would like to do more. This is something that I want to focus on in the next 10 years. That, and growing Moore Health & Protection. The dream is to have even more team members so that I don’t have to wear quite so many different hats and can concentrate on making a bigger difference for my clients.
I’m an avid Star Wars fan
It’s the best movie franchise, hands down. As well as this, I enjoy miniature modelling and gaming but the only time I really relax is with a good book sat by the pool in the sun. My favourite book is Legend by David Gemmell. I’ve read it several times and have learnt some valuable lessons from it.
There’s a secret few know about me
Until now… I achieved Gold Bar 3 in Latin American dancing – despite having no rhythm and two left feet! I also had the acting bug growing up, which I’ve never really lost. I sometimes imagine how different my life could have been, but I wouldn’t change anything.
