With over 20 years experience in the Health and Protection industry, you can be assured that you will receive expert advice from an independent local intermediary.
Private Medical Insurance (PMI) or simply Healthcare is an increasingly complex area with many of the leading providers offering ever more plan choice and customisation in menu driven frameworks.
What is more the providers often include key areas of your plan across different modules so it is important to get expert advice to ensure there are no hidden surprises when you need the plan the most – at point of claim!
Who is PMI for?
The short answer is everyone. These plans are all underwritten so taking a plan when you are healthy is a good step to ensuring you have all the cover you could need.
For those with a plan already a review can help to save you money. As an independent adviser with access to a range of products from the whole of market it’s my job to make sure you are getting the right cover for the right price not just today but every renewal.
Often referred to as personal protection these two policies can be taken out together or independently though providers increasingly include life in with critical illness plans.
Some providers will even refer to these plans by other names though they essentially do the same job – to protect you and your family from financial hardships in the event of death or if you are diagnosed with an illness from the list of critical illnesses on the plan.
The most common use is mortgage protection which pays off the mortgage in the event of death though there are a host of other uses such as providing an income to your family, leaving a financial legacy to your family or to cover funeral costs.
Income protection is a type of policy that provides an income should you be unable to work due to ill health.
These plans will usually have a waiting period before activating for example with a 4 week deferment you would need to be off work for 4 weeks before the policy would start paying out.
Key person (sometimes referred to as key man insurance) is a plan that protects business interests in the event that key members of staff are unable to work following a critical illness diagnosis or in the event of death.
A key person can be anyone at the company not just the owner or director. One example was a lady who was bi lingual and crucial for talking to their offices abroad.
Shareholder protection is another form of life and critical illness designed to protect your business. When activated the policy gives a welcome boost to help a company carry on operating.
These policies should also be underpinned by legal documents that ensure the money and shares as appropriate go to the right places.
Death in service policies allow business to support their staff in a tax efficient and cost effective way
